Bill Maher is one of the few voices in media who still occasionally tells the truth, even when it embarrasses his own side. That alone makes him unusual. He may still call himself a Democrat, but he has at least shown a willingness to confront reality.
That is more than can be said for most of the political class in New York.
I have spent much of my adult life defending the Constitution, defending the right to life, and defending the Second Amendment. I am a pro-life advocate, I have served on the board of directors of the New York State Right to Life Committee, and I stood for the unborn when it was unpopular to do so, I will continue to be a voice for the right to life so long as I have breath in my .
I have also been a dedicated and successful Second Amendment advocate, because the right to keep and bear arms is not a government favor.
It is a constitutional right. Period.
What is happening in New York is not simply bad governance. It is a full-scale assault on constitutional order.
Democrats attack our rights openly, with law after law, mandate after mandate, and restriction after restriction.
Republicans, for their part, too often collapse under pressure, talk tough, and then do nothing.
That kind of cowardice is not neutrality. It is surrender.
The result is a state that treats productive citizens like livestock, taxes them into the ground, and then lectures them about their duty to “do more” for a political machine that gives them less and less in return.
Upstate New York is being drained to feed the city’s failed experiment. Hardworking families, small business owners, gun owners, parents, and taxpayers are paying the bill for policies they never asked for and do not want.
New York City has become the symbol of everything broken in this state.
The radical politics now driving its agenda are not about freedom, safety, or opportunity.
They are about control.
They are about expanding government, centralizing power, and forcing the rest of New York to live under the fantasies of elite ideologues who would rather remake society than protect it.
That is what socialist politics always becomes: control dressed up as compassion.
And on the Second Amendment, the attack has been relentless. Law-abiding citizens are harassed, restricted, delayed, and disarmed while criminals are treated with excuses and half-measures.
That is not public safety. That is government arrogance. It is unconstitutional, and it is disgraceful.
On life issues, the pattern is just as ugly. The unborn are treated as disposable. Pro-life voices are mocked.
Euthanasia and other anti-life trends are normalized.
The left calls it progress, but it is moral decay.
Any state that loses respect for life will eventually lose respect for liberty too.
Here is the truth: New York is being transformed by people who hate constitutional limits, hate individual responsibility, and hate anyone who refuses to bow to their agenda. They want obedient voters, dependent citizens, and a state controlled from the top down. And the Republicans who fail to fight them are helping them every step of the way.
That is why writing in “Carl Gottstein” matters.
I am running for Governor of New York as pro-life write-in candidate who will not apologize for defending life, liberty, and the Constitution.
